About

Tap Lab is an independent browser tool for people who want to explore their two-finger tapping pace. It combines a short speed test with a target-tempo exercise, an interval trace and a small notebook of recent sessions.

It is operated by Nasir Aziz Awan, creator of KeyboardTester.click. This is a separate practice project: there is no account requirement, public leaderboard or download.

What the tool does

It counts separate accepted taps on two chosen keys, records their browser-observed spacing, checks whether neighboring taps alternate, and calculates a four-taps-per-beat stream pace. An optional metronome provides a reference for the target-tempo exercise.

What it does not measure

These results do not measure physical switch latency, calibrated reaction time, osu! game accuracy, musical ability or an in-game rank. The tool has no beatmaps, game integration, osu! assets or official partnership. Device and browser differences matter.

Why Z and X?

The official osu! play-style guide documents Z and X as the default keyboard tapping keys for its mouse-and-keyboard style. Tap Lab uses the familiar defaults, but you can choose any two distinct letters or numbers.
